Welcome to Traffic Jam 2010!

• September 12, 2010 - Doors at 5:00 p.m.

• Amsterdam Rhino/The District - 607 11th Ave. SW, Calgary

• Bands: Telly, Napoleon Skywalker and Shawn Baran

• Admission: 18+, $10 minimum donation at the door

An extension of the Stop the Traffic movements sweeping across Calgary, Traffic Jam is bringing awareness and raising funds to make a difference in the lives of people around the world who are affected by human trafficking.

We have partnered with 5 key organizations that are doing great work in this area. Learn more about them through this website. Our hope is to raise a profile of the tragic and hopeless plight of the victims and mobilize our friends, family and neighbors to respond to this epidemic.

Join us as we take a first step down the path of bringing hope and responding to the crisis. Bring your friends and family for a night of excellent food, drinks and music at the Amsterdam Rhino/District! Come prepared to expand your understanding of the issue and to hear from those on the ground making difference – together we will invest in working towards a solution. There will be silent auction items to bid on, raffle items to win and custom created art projects from ACAD students available for purchase.

The Amsterdam Rhino/District ownership have committed 10% of all food and drink profits to the cause, and 100% of the proceeds from cover charge and all auction items will be donated to support our chosen partners.

Tickets are $10 at the door which will open at 5 pm. Full District menu will be available for dinner between 5 – 7pm. Silent auction will close at 9 pm and the formal program will start at 7 pm with a message from one of our partners and the concert kick off. We will open with an acoustic set with Shawn Baran and the drum and bass stylings of Napoleon Skywalker, and will cap off the night with an infamously high energy show courtesy of Telly.

If you would like to donate online, there will be opportunity at the event, or if you are not able to attend the event in person, you can donate at your convenience by submitting on the left hand side of this page and pick the campaign 'Traffic Jam'!

Monday, 09 August 2010 09:39

As of the end of July over $185,000 has been raised through Compassion in Action: Stop the Traffic events.  Your donations to Compassion in Action will fund prevention, rescue and reintegration initiatives in Ukraine, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Costa Rica and in Calgary, Alberta.  With still more than 20 groups yet to hold their Stop the Traffic event we hope to raise over $300,000 to help victims and those at risk of being trafficked.

In late 2010, once all the funds have been raised, monies will be divided up and sent to our five partner organizations to fund their projects.

Stopthetraffic.ca will continue to be your source for information on how funds are being used and to hear stories about how your gift has helped change the lives of those living in modern day slavery.
